About the job
Make your mark for patients
We are looking for a Digital Technology Lead Industrial Engineering with a strong IT mindset, excellent stakeholder management skills, and a passion for secure, reliable, and scalable digital solutions. This role sits within UCB’s Digital Technology (DT) organization and supports multiple manufacturing sites, primarily in Braine‑l’Alleud (Belgium) and Bulle (Switzerland).
About the role
You will be responsible for the integration, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement of digital and IT platforms that underpin biotech and pharmaceutical manufacturing. Beyond ensuring reliability and compliance, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of innovative digital solutions that enable UCB’s Patient Supply Digital Business Transformation program. In this context, you will drive the evolution of our industrial digital ecosystem - from MES and DCS integrations to engineering applications, data pipelines, and IT/OT connectivity - ensuring that every solution is scalable, secure, compliant, and aligned with enterprise IT architecture standards. Your work will accelerate how manufacturing and engineering teams adopt new digital capabilities, enhance operational intelligence, streamline workflows, and strengthen end‑to‑end visibility across UCB Patient Supply domains.
Who you'll work with
You will act as the single Digital Technology point of contact for Manufacturing and Engineering.
This means working closely with:
- Manufacturing & biotech operations teams
- Engineering & automation stakeholders
- SAP/ERP, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, and QA IT teams
- External partners providing IT platform support
Your role is to translate business and engineering needs into digital roadmaps, ensuring that IT solutions remain aligned to UCB’s strategic objectives, IT governance frameworks, and cybersecurity requirements.
What you will do
- Lead and govern IT/DT platforms supporting control systems and engineering digital tools (DCS integrations, asset management systems, historian platforms, data flows, etc.)
- Collaborate with engineering and automation teams to ensure proper IT integration of control systems - without acting as the automation designer
- Own the delivery of digital initiatives, expanding capabilities to new manufacturing lines as UCB scales
- Ensure operational reliability, system resilience, and proactive performance monitoring of digital platforms
- Identify and mitigate digital risks, including cybersecurity, obsolescence, data integrity, and infrastructure vulnerabilities
- Ensure full alignment with GMP IT compliance, CSV, GAMP, data‑integrity, and industry standard IT
Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skills
- Master’s degree in Engineering, IT, Computer Science, or a related field
- 5+ years of IT project or IT system ownership experience in a GMP manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of DCS, MES, and industrial digital ecosystems, from an IT integration and lifecycle‑management perspective
- Experience with IT/OT convergence, cybersecurity, system validation, and platform governance
- Solid knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and IT’s role in supporting them
- Strong problem‑solving and ability to operate in a dynamic, cross‑functional environment
- Fluency in English; good working knowledge of French
Are you ready to ‘go beyond’ to create value and make your mark for patients? If this sounds like you, then we would love to hear from you!
