Your Work Environment
The Department of "Dementia Disorders" led by Professor Dr. Dr. med. Marc Aurel Busche is a nationally and internationally leading center for cognitive disorders and dementias. It includes both inpatient and outpatient geriatric psychiatry as well as the Memory Clinic of the University Geriatric Medicine Felix Platter and is directly connected to university research through the working group "Brain Ageing and Neurodegeneration" at the Department of Biomedicine at the University of Basel. Patients benefit from state-of-the-art early diagnostic and therapeutic approaches, ranging from initial cognitive disorders to advanced dementia conditions. The department is interdisciplinary and interprofessional and has close collaboration with the departments of geriatrics, neurology, and rehabilitation within the institution. Through the professorship in "Dementia Disorders", the department is comprehensively integrated into local university research structures (e.g., Department of Biomedicine at the University of Basel and Department of Clinical Research) and maintains international collaborations, including with the UK Dementia Research Institute. Therefore, you have the opportunity to directly connect clinical work with innovative research on dementia diseases (e.g., EEG/MEG, sleep, neurophysiology, cognition, and biomarkers as well as experimental and clinical studies). Your Activities
Medical leadership of an interprofessional ward team
Administrative and strategic leadership tasks in the Department of "Dementia Disorders" including the design and further development of the clinical offerings
Close collaboration and active participation in the Memory Clinic with joint interdisciplinary case discussions as well as involvement in innovative concepts, e.g., in the area of biomarker-based diagnostics and novel therapeutic approaches
Initiation, leadership, or participation in clinical and translational research projects and studies with the possibility for academic advancement
Regular joint visits with colleagues from geriatrics
Interdisciplinary collaboration with the Delirium Unit in the institution
Professional training of assistant doctors and participation in student teaching
Consultation and liaison activities within the institution as well as in nursing and care homes
