As part of the Global Products & Solutions (GPS) division, the Client Coverage & Advisory team acts as a strategic hub for bespoke advisory services. We partner closely with Relationship Managers across Julius Baer’s international network to design sophisticated, goal-aligned investment strategies that reflect each client’s unique aspirations, values, and generational vision.
We are now seeking a distinguished investment professional to lead our engagement with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients from Latin America & Iberia, serving as Team Head LATAM & Iberia Investment Advisory. This is a critical leadership position at the intersection of strategic investment guidance, client centricity, and regional expertise.

Role Overview
As Team Head LATAM & Iberia Investment Advisory, you will be responsible for leading a high-performing team of investment advisors while acting as the primary strategic partner for Relationship Managers covering Latin America & Iberia. You will bring not only advanced technical mastery in investment advisory but also strong cultural understanding, linguistic fluency, and established credibility within the region.
Reporting directly to the Head CC&A Switzerland & Monaco, you will combine hands-on client advisory with team leadership, ensuring seamless delivery of best-in-class investment solutions while fostering talent development and a strong partnership with the front.
This role demands a rare blend of executive presence, emotional intelligence, and intellectual depth.
YOUR CHALLENGE
1. Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of experienced investment advisors specialising in LATAM & Iberia client coverage, promoting a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and superior client service
- Define clear performance targets, monitor key metrics, and implement structured feedback mechanisms to ensure consistent growth and accountability
- Collaborate with HR and GPS leadership on recruitment, succession planning, and capability-building initiatives tailored to the LATAM & Iberia segment
- Represent the team internally, advocating for resources, training, and strategic alignment with other divisions including Research, Product Management, and Wealth Planning
2. Strategic Investment Advisory for High-Net-Worth Clients
- Serve as lead advisor for top-tier LATAM & Iberia clients and prospects, crafting comprehensive, tax-efficient, and culturally attuned investment strategies aligned with complex family dynamics and intergenerational goals
- Conduct in-depth portfolio diagnostics, asset allocation reviews, and scenario analyses, integrating macroeconomic outlooks, currency risks, and political developments
- Drive thematic idea generation with focus on opportunities and risks, spanning asset classes
- Ensure all recommendations adhere to MiFID II suitability and appropriateness requirements, with robust documentation and transparent rationale
3. Client Engagement & Executive Presence
- Act as a trusted voice of authority during high-stakes client interactions, delivering insightful, articulate, and compelling presentations
- Partner with Relationship Managers to co-lead client meetings, transition planning discussions, and board-level consultations, reinforcing confidence through calm expertise and discretion
- Travel regularly to key LATAM & Iberia hubs and coordinate with local coverage teams to maintain proximity to clients and deepen relationships
4. Regional Insight & Thought Leadership
- Champion deep regional knowledge within Julius Baer by sharing regular market commentary, economic updates, and client behaviour insights from Latin America with internal stakeholders
- Liaise closely with the Research department and regional desks to refine investment views and identify structural shifts impacting wealth creation and preservation in the region
- Contribute to firmwide initiatives focused on improving the client journey for Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking clients, including digital enablement and multilingual content development
5. Governance, Risk & Operational Excellence
- Oversee end-to-end trade execution and transaction management, ensuring full compliance with internal controls, settlement timelines, and regulatory standards
- Work collaboratively with Operations, Compliance, Legal, and Internal Audit to uphold stringent governance frameworks and mitigate conduct risk
- Implement standardised operating procedures within the team to enhance efficiency, scalability, and audit readiness
YOUR PROFILE
We seek a seasoned investment leader who combines sharp financial acumen with authentic empathy for the Latin American & Iberian client base.
Essential Qualifications
- University degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
- CFA and/ or additional certifications such as CAIA are highly valued
- CWMA Holder
- Minimum of 12+ years of relevant experience in private banking or wealth management, ideally with exposure to cross-border advisory
- Proven track record in leading investment advisory teams, preferably in a global or multi-jurisdictional setting
- Deep understanding of LATAM & Iberic cultural nuances and business practices, with existing familiarity with major wealth centres in LATAM & Iberia
Skills & Competencies
- Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish; Portuguese fluency strongly preferred
- Full professional command of English (written and spoken); German is an asset but not required
- Expertise across all major asset classes (equities, bonds, alternatives, hedge funds, private markets, and structured products)
- Strong grasp of taxation principles (Swiss and international), estate planning considerations, and anti-money laundering regulations
- Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously at an executive level, exercising sound judgment under pressure
- Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, able to translate complexity into clarity for diverse audiences
- Technically adept with Bloomberg, Microsoft Office Suite, and capable to quickly manage our internal tools

This role is based at our global headquarters in Zürich, Switzerland. Candidates must be eligible to work in Switzerland and willing to travel internationally, including frequent trips to Latin America & Iberia.
