The Department of Health, together with its employees, takes on diverse tasks in the field of outpatient and inpatient health care, health promotion and prevention, health police duties, containment of communicable diseases, networking of decision-makers in the health sector, animal health, and consumer protection.

The Service for Care and Development makes an active contribution to promoting care development in the canton of St. Gallen.
