Head of Legal Advice for Refugees in Both Basel 60%
The HEKS Office of Both Basel is committed through its program work to the observance of human rights and equal opportunities for all people in the Basel region. With great commitment and innovation, we promote an inclusive society in which all people actively participate. In the area of advocacy work with refugees, the HEKS Office of Both Basel runs the BAS Counseling Center for Asylum Seekers, Specialist Office for Humanitarian Visas, and Contact Point for Those Affected by Coercive Measures.
The programs in the area of Legal Advice for Refugees advise asylum seekers, provisionally admitted persons, and refugees on legal matters, take on legal representation in individual cases, and advocate for fair procedures. In the extended asylum procedure, it ensures legal protection on behalf of the SEM. We support refugees in legal matters, for example regarding family reunification, hardship cases, humanitarian visas, or coercive measures.

We are looking for a communicative, committed, and well-organized leader as of January 1, 2026, or by agreement,
- Management and operation of various projects and programs in the area of legal advice for refugees.
- Project management including portfolio expansion and business development.
- Personnel responsibility (currently: 4 lawyers, 4 program staff, 1 intern)
- Networking and political work with aid organizations as well as other institutions and specialist offices and authorities
- Awareness-raising work and conducting fundraising activities
- Collaboration with colleagues of the HEKS Office of Both Basel
- Collaboration with the HEKS legal advice offices in other regions
- University degree, law (MLaw / lic. jur.) preferred
- Professional experience in migration and asylum
- Experience in personnel management and project management
- Experience and enjoyment in process optimization and qualitative further development of services and workflows
- Willingness and flexibility to work in agile work structures.
- Experience in public relations and event management as well as interest in asylum policy issues
- Communicative, strong negotiator, and resilient personality
- Networked thinking as well as structured and efficient working methods
- Good French and English skills in spoken and written form are an advantage
- Proficient in the use of MS Office products
