The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences in Switzerland. At PSI, we conduct cutting-edge research in the fields of future technologies, energy and climate, health innovation, as well as the fundamentals of nature. The team of the Joining Technology and Sensor Technology group carries out welding, locksmith, and steel construction work for all existing and new research facilities at PSI. In addition, the group specializes in the production of UHV components and the execution of highly precise vacuum brazing work.
For the new appointment of the leadership, we are looking for a committed
Your tasks
- Technical and disciplinary leadership of a team of welding and vacuum brazing specialists
- Central welding supervision with responsibility for welding quality assurance as well as production at PSI
- Definition of welding technologies and monitoring of the production of steel, stainless steel, and aluminum constructions
- Review of welding technical drawings, selection of suitable equipment technology, and preparation of relevant documentation (e.g., WPS, test and welding sequence plans, work instructions)
- Execution and monitoring of NDT tests
- Planning, organization, and monitoring of procedure tests as well as welder and operator qualifications (EN ISO 9606-1/-2, EN ISO 14732)
- Technical consulting of internal interfaces as well as cooperation with testing bodies, acceptance societies, and authorities
Your profile
- Several years of leadership experience
- Successfully completed degree (FH) in mechanical engineering, materials science, or comparable fields
- Additional qualification SFI/IWE/EWE
- Experience with a 3D CAD system (e.g., Inventor, Catia)
- Experience in electron beam and laser beam welding as well as vacuum brazing is an advantage
- Knowledge in the field of pressure equipment and vacuum vessels is desirable
- Analytical thinking, strong communication skills, team spirit, and assertiveness
- Very good German skills as well as good English skills in spoken and written form
