The Europe Institute / Institute for European Global Studies at the University of Basel, founded in 1993, researches and teaches the relations between Switzerland and Europe in a globally connected world.
As an interdisciplinary institution, the institute combines expertise from political science, economics, philosophy, history, and law and offers an innovative, interdisciplinary, and internationally oriented academic program in European Global Studies.
From January 1 or at the latest February 1, 2026 - or by agreement - the institute is looking for an assistant for the Department of European Law (Head: Prof. Dr. Christa Tobler).
Your tasks
- Research activities in the field of European law or European Union law and preparation of a dissertation.
- Coordination of teaching in the Department of Law within the interdisciplinary master's program European Global Studies in cooperation with the responsible lecturers (supervision of students, coordination and conducting of exercises for lectures) and active assistance in the teaching of Prof. Tobler.
- Assistance in planning and conducting research activities, excursions, continuing education courses, lectures, conferences, and public appearances.
- Active participation in interdisciplinary activities of the institute (e.g., presentation of research work at institute events) as well as in activities within the framework of academic self-administration.
Your profile
- You have completed your university degree in law with European law/European Union law with excellent results and have already started or intend to start a dissertation. A postgraduate degree in EU law is especially welcome.
- You are sociable, work independently and precisely, have a talent for organization, and have confident German and very good English skills (spoken and written).
- You are proficient in MS Office, maintain an overview even in a sometimes busy environment, and are willing to adapt your working hours to the semester schedule.
