Job Description
Develop a rare expertise in plaster therapy at HUG and give a new dimension to your career.
If you are looking for a professional challenge combining technical skill, precision, and direct contribution to the quality of care, this opportunity is for you.
We are building a specialized skills pool in the plaster room. This program is aimed at experienced nurses wishing to enrich their clinical practice and develop recognized expertise in plaster therapy. By joining this unit, you will work in an academic environment of excellence, where innovation, knowledge transfer, and technical skill are at the heart of your activity.
You will be integrated into a dynamic department, working in specialized units around the operating room and surgery. By joining the Orthopedic Surgery and Musculoskeletal Trauma Service, you will be involved in urgent, outpatient, and inpatient care pathways. Your activity will focus mainly in the plaster room, within a unit fully dedicated to plaster therapy and recognized for its high level of expertise.
You will join a team specialized in caring for patients with trauma or musculoskeletal disorders. You will perform daily immobilizations using plaster, resin, or other materials, as well as personalized splints and supports, with a varied patient population and in clinical situations of varying complexity. You will work in an environment where clinical analysis, technical skill, and interprofessional collaboration play an essential role.
Throughout your career, you will develop advanced expertise in immobilizations, valued in a reference center. Your role goes far beyond simply applying immobilization devices: you analyze orthopedic and trauma situations, propose conservative, preoperative, or postoperative care, and work closely with surgeons.
In your daily practice, you rely on solid knowledge of the anatomy and pathophysiology of the musculoskeletal system to guide your decisions and propose the most appropriate immobilization. You are a responsive person, capable of managing unforeseen events, prioritizing effectively, and adopting a confident professional stance in interactions with medical teams.
Your interpersonal skills allow you to collaborate harmoniously with multidisciplinary health professionals; you will work with doctors, nursing staff, as well as community health care assistants. You ensure the transmission of precise, complete, and structured information, promoting optimal multidisciplinary care. You also contribute to the supervision of new nursing staff and other health professionals, while participating in various internal and institutional projects.
By joining this unit, you benefit from structured support to develop recognized expertise in plaster therapy. You work within an expert, caring, and collaborative team, in a stimulating academic environment focused on excellence and innovation. Your activity is varied, technical, and concrete, close to patients. This position thus offers you the opportunity to give new momentum to your nursing career by developing a rare and highly sought-after skill.
Qualifications
You hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Swiss Red Cross.
You have clinical experience, ideally acquired in orthopedics, surgery, or emergency care, and show a strong interest in technical and manual care. Experience or training in plaster therapy is an asset; your motivation, ability to develop rare expertise, and desire to broaden your skills will be equally decisive.
You are comfortable with manual work and have good dexterity. You are able to perform handling tasks and occasionally adopt physically demanding positions necessary for patient mobilization.
You have excellent command of the French language, both spoken and written, and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills. You are organized, have a keen sense of priorities, and show discretion, professionalism, and diplomacy in your daily practice.
