Lecturers in Finance and Accounting – VSH / VSK

For our location in St. Gallen, we are looking for lecturers in finance and accounting in the area of:

• Certified Businesswoman / Businessman VSH
• Certified Business Specialist VSK
• Accounting Clerk VSK

Main tasks

• Conducting group lessons according to the curriculum in the subject of finance and accounting.
• Preparing and reviewing lessons.
• Teaching and deepening the learning content:
• Financial accounting: double-entry bookkeeping, SME chart of accounts, depreciation, bad debts, accruals, provisions, inventories, foreign currencies, real estate, securities, personnel expenses, annual financial statements (balance sheet/income statement), sole proprietorship, corporation, limited liability company, valuation principles, hidden reserves.
• Cost and operational accounting: cost types, cost center and cost unit accounting, operational accounting, calculation, break-even analysis, contribution margin accounting.
• Financial management: financing theory, cash flow statement, financial planning, balance sheet and profit analysis.
• Taxes: basics, profit and capital tax, withholding tax, VAT basics.
• Value Added Tax (VAT): legal basics, tax object, tax rates, own consumption, billing procedures.
• Promoting a constructive feedback culture.
• Creating, conducting, and grading interim and diploma exams.
• Supporting learners in their professional development.

Teaching times / variants

Teaching takes place in different models. Lecturers are assigned to one of these variants (approximately 3–6 hours per week each):

• Monday all day
• Monday and Wednesday evening
• Friday afternoon and Friday evening
• Saturday all day

Requirements / competencies

• University of applied sciences, university, or equivalent degree in business administration, finance and accounting, controlling, or taxation.
• Solid expertise in financial accounting, cost accounting, controlling, financial analysis, taxes, and VAT.
• Pedagogical skills and strong communication abilities.
• Experience in adult education.
• Ability to individually support adult learners and teach in a practice-oriented manner.
• Confident use of didactic and digital tools.
• SVEB 1 certificate or equivalent training in adult education.
• Precise, reliable, and independent working style.

Objective of the position

Lecturers contribute with their expertise, university degree, and teaching experience in adult education to ensure that participants in the courses Certified Businesswoman / Businessman VSH, Certified Business Specialist VSK, and Accounting Clerk VSK receive a solid and practice-oriented education in finance and accounting, enabling them to make business decisions confidently and responsibly.
