General area of responsibility: In this demanding key role, you lead the Operations department of the Kunstmuseum Basel. This includes the Visitor Services, Technical Services, and Security departments. As a member of the executive board, you are responsible for the operational management as well as the strategic development of operational processes, taking into account the upcoming renovation of the main building and during the special usage phase. You are the contact person for the management regarding daily operations from a visitor-related, technical, and security perspective and ensure that services are delivered with quality, on time, and within budget.
Budget responsibility: Together with the department heads, you ensure that operations run within budget concerning personnel, infrastructure, and security expenses. As a member of the executive board, you are responsible for planning, controlling, and monitoring the relevant budget items.
Optimizing processes: You identify optimization potentials in the Visitor Services, Technical, and Security departments and implement them together with the responsible managers. You coordinate cross-departmental workflows and actively shape the operational change process, especially in the context of the structural renovation of the main building.
Collaboration: In this key position, you work closely with the management and the renovation project management and ensure efficient coordination with internal and external specialist departments. Additionally, you maintain close and constructive cooperation with cantonal authorities and other relevant partners, thus making an important contribution to the successful implementation of joint projects.
Leadership responsibility: You lead the heads of the Visitor Services, Technical, and Security departments, set strategic goals, and support their implementation. You are characterized by a respectful and supportive leadership style, act proactively, and strengthen a constructive, motivating working atmosphere within the team.
Experience: Five years of professional experience in a comparable position, preferably in the cultural sector or an institution with a public mandate. Several years of experience in team leadership, ideally in security-, service-, or technology-related areas. Experience in project management as well as dealing with structural or operational change processes is an advantage.
Personality: You convince through a high degree of personal responsibility, assertiveness, willingness to shape, and pronounced communication skills. You act cooperatively, reliably, and are aware of your role model function as a leader. You possess organizational skills, think in networks, and work in a structured and solution-oriented manner, even under pressure.
Education: You have a completed degree in Facility Management, Business Administration, or a comparable field, as well as several years of leadership experience in a complex, service-oriented environment. Ideally, you bring experience in managing demanding projects, preferably in the cultural sector, and are familiar with processes in cantonal administrations. Additional qualifications in related fields complete your profile.
Language: You have very good oral and written skills in the German language. English skills are required.
