Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.

The Main Department of Remand Prisons Zurich (UGZ) - one of seven main departments of JuWe - currently operates seven prisons for remand and security detention. The Zurich prison, with its 135 places, is the largest remand prison in the Canton of Zurich. During the renovation of the Pfäffikon prison, the security department is temporarily housed in the Zurich prison. This department receives detainees from detention facilities throughout Switzerland who are dangerous to others or themselves or who have a high risk of escape.

This is your area of responsibility

• Accompanying and supporting detainees in everyday life as well as in crisis situations
• First intervention in medical and psychiatric emergencies
• Organization and participation in somatic, psychiatric, and dental consultations
• Co-design and development of the department by contributing your professional and social skills
• Contact point for medical questions and emergencies as well as training of employees in health-related matters
• Co-responsibility for material and medication management as well as the operation of the pharmacy
• Administrative tasks such as billing and correspondence with external interfaces
• Taking on early shifts from Monday to Friday in the health service to ensure continuous care. Weekend and holiday shifts are shared within the team and occur in a cycle of four to five weeks

• Completed training as a Dipl. Nursing Specialist HF/FH
• Interest in the care and support of detainees of various origins and nationalities
• Flexibility, personal responsibility, and a high level of social competence
• Interest in continuously expanding your knowledge in other areas of health care
• Very good oral and written German skills; any additional language is an advantage
• Your life experience is a valuable asset: a minimum age of 25 years rounds off your profile
• You have a clean record; that is, an impeccable reputation (no entries in the criminal record and debt enforcement register)
