The Office for Informatics (AFI) is the IT competence center of the Canton of Zurich. It provides comprehensive services in the area of central IT infrastructure and canton-wide applications for directorates, authorities, the judiciary, and independent institutions. Commissioned with the implementation of the new Information and Communication Technology (ICT) strategy, the Office for Informatics accompanies and supports the Canton of Zurich into the digital world.
The Canton of Zurich is modernizing its entire IT infrastructure as part of the "Platforms and Data Centers (PRZ)" project. The goal is to transfer over 250 applications from various directorates into a central data center, introduce new technologies, and standardize operations. For this forward-looking transformation, we are specifically expanding our team – and you can help shape it from the start.
Your tasks:
- In this versatile role, you take responsibility in the areas of operations, architecture, and service management
- Ensuring stable and secure operation of our database infrastructure based on SQL databases
- Coordination and management of the outsourcing provider in daily business as well as in projects
- Further development of the IT landscape as a solution architect and active participation in shaping the technology roadmap
- Analysis of customer needs and translation into viable technical solutions
- Monitoring and management of 2nd and 3rd level support
- Conducting health checks, patch management, and hardware replacement – directly or via the provider
- Development of automations (e.g., using scripts) to increase efficiency
- Responsibility for service management according to ITIL (incident, problem, change)
- Maintenance of system documentation and ensuring up-to-date operational documents
- Support in recovery and restart processes as well as in security and performance-critical issues
Your profile:
- Several years of experience in IT infrastructure, ideally with architecture know-how
- Additionally, several years of experience operating SQL-based environments
- Knowledge of MS SQL and other SQL-based databases would be an advantage
- Familiarity with collaboration with external IT service providers
- Knowledge of ITIL processes and service management
- Structured, solution-oriented working style and enjoyment of coordination
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team
