Job Description
The Maintenance and Operations Service of the University Hospitals of Geneva ensures the operation, production, and distribution of fluids necessary for all medical, technical, and administrative activities. The Building Sector is responsible for maintenance, preventive work, advice, as well as transformation studies upon request from the Studies and Construction Service (SEC) or other departments.
As an apprentice floor-layer, you will cover, protect, and beautify the floors and walls of the hospital by installing textile and resilient floors (carpet, PVC, linoleum, rubber). To do this, you will read and interpret plans, diagrams, and instructions provided by the architect and prepare and check the choice of substrate (application of a primer, smoothing, leveling, cleaning, sanding, crack filling, blocking residual moisture).
You will advise internal clients on the choice of covering, color, and patterns, taking into account the use of the room (patient room, office, corridor, etc.) and its environment (furniture style, paint colors, etc.) through samples. You measure the surfaces to be covered and calculate the quantity of materials. You also prepare a quote and set deadlines. Ordering materials, organizing their transport, and storing them at the workplace are also part of your duties.
During your training, you will acquire basic techniques as well as hygiene and safety rules essential to this profession.
