Chief Residents in the Pediatrics Department
The Pediatrics Department of the CHUV is offering several Chief Resident positions for durations of two to three years. We offer the opportunity to work in an academic environment, within a dynamic team that provides numerous opportunities for professional development.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine (FBM) of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Pediatrics Department, attached to the Woman-Mother-Child Department, is spread over two sites: CHUV and the Lausanne Children’s Hospital (HEL). Its mission is to provide inpatient and outpatient care for patients aged 0 to 18 years.
A true "hospital within the hospital," the Department includes several inpatient units, notably medical-surgical intensive care and continuous care, as well as the emergency department and all pediatric specialties. The interaction between units and with the neonatology and pediatric surgery services makes this position an opportunity for multidisciplinary work and care of patients with fascinating diversity.
Mission
The chief resident is a clinician trained in a specialty, playing a role in direct patient care, teaching and supervising assistant physicians (interns) and trainees (externs), and managing workflows under the supervision of a senior physician. They are subject to an in-hospital on-call duty.
- You ensure patient care
- You supervise and train assistant physicians (interns) responsible for patient care
- You proactively organize their work and the daily functioning of the department
- You interact with specialists for optimal patient care

Profile
- You hold a Swiss federal medical diploma or a title recognized by the Federal Commission of Medical Professions (MEBEKO)
- You are a FMH-certified pediatric specialist
- You have at least 1 year of clinical experience in a pediatric medical-surgical emergency department
- You master French or have the ability to acquire it quickly (level C1)
- Another foreign language (German, Italian, Spanish, English, or Arabic) is welcome
