Master Craftsman/woman Industry/Assembly 80 - 100%Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders, the prevention of recidivism, as well as the detention and preparation for departure of persons without a valid residence permit are of particular importance.
The Bachtel Correctional Center (VZB) is one of the enforcement facilities of the Canton of Zurich (VEZ) – one of seven main departments of JuWe – and is an institution specialized in open enforcement of custodial and substitute custodial sentences. The VZB offers space for over 90 incarcerated persons.
The basic concept of the work operations is based on the daily employment of our inmates. Industrial and assembly work, among other work areas, form the main part of our employment offer.
We are looking for an experienced and socially competent individual from September 1, 2026, or by arrangement, for our assembly department at the Hinwil location. The department offers workplaces for up to 25 inmates in the field of industrial and assembly work. Employment is organized by a small team of 2 employees and the department head. The retirement of one employee prompted us to advertise this position.
Your tasks
- Lead, supervise, accompany, and promote inmates in their daily work according to work-pedagogical principles, as well as collaborate with the assigned inmate group 7.5 hours daily
- Set up and design inmate workplaces
- Manufacture assembly orders with inmates, such as producing refrigerator air filters, packing screws, cardboard work, assembling holders for solar panels, etc.
- Customer support and consulting, responsibility for deadlines and quality
- Maintenance and upkeep of the associated infrastructure
- Interdisciplinary collaboration with work educators of other work departments, as well as participation in daily reports and team meetings
- Assignments and substitutions in other work departments of the correctional center
Your profile
- You have a craft training and several years of professional experience, expertise in technical challenges and operating machines and tools
- Ideally, you have experience, understanding, and tolerance in dealing with people of different social and cultural backgrounds
- You have a stable personality with a high degree of social competence and are mentally and physically resilient
- You are at least 25 years old and can provide a clean record (criminal and debt register extract)
