Nurse at the HDJ / Pediatric pre-surgical consultation
To strengthen its team, the Women-Mother-Child Department (DFME) is looking, from April 1, 2026 or for a date to be agreed, for a nurse for its pediatric surgery day hospital and its pre-surgical consultation (CPC), at a rate of activity between 80 and 100%.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, it plays a leading role in the fields of care, medical research, and training.
The Women-Mother-Child Department (DFME) brings together the gynecology, obstetrics, neonatology, pediatrics, and child and adolescent surgery services. More than 1,500 professionals provide specialized and comprehensive care for women and children, from birth to adolescence.
The day hospital for surgery is an outpatient unit welcoming patients aged from a few weeks to 18 years requiring surgery or an examination under general anesthesia. Adjacent to this unit is the pre-surgical consultation (CPC).
Mission
Pediatric surgery day hospital:
- You take care of children on the day of their intervention: reception, preoperative preparation, accompaniment to the operating room, and post-anesthetic monitoring in collaboration with an interprofessional team
- You ensure postoperative care: clinical monitoring, pain management, wound care, education, and discharge advice
- You ensure good understanding of postoperative instructions through follow-up phone calls the next day.
Pre-surgical consultation (CPC):
- You actively participate in the CPC: welcoming children and their families, installation, taking vital signs, initial clinical evaluation
- You perform technical care related to preoperative preparation: blood draws, urine tests, ECG
- You work closely with specialized pediatric professionals (ISMP), anesthetists, and medical-surgical teams to ensure a smooth pathway
- You contribute to the organization and coordination of the preoperative pathway: verification of documents and preparation of necessary examinations
- You contact children/parents the day before the intervention to provide instructions: fasting, appointment time, treatment, etc.
Profile
- You hold a Bachelor’s degree in nursing or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Swiss Red Cross
- Experience in a similar position is an asset
- You demonstrate rigor, organizational skills, and good adaptability
- You are dynamic, positive, and appreciate working in a multidisciplinary team
- You master common computer tools.
Depending on profile and experience, the salary level will be between 8 and 9.
