Company Description
With more than 12,000 employees representing 160 professions, the Geneva University Hospitals are a nationally and internationally recognized institution. To learn more about our institution, take a few minutes to watch our 2024 retrospective by clicking here .
The position is attached to the NeuroCentre. The activity will be deployed transversally across it as well as at the Brain and Mental Health Consultation at Campus Biotech.
The NeuroCentre is a transversal unit within the HUG, engaged between clinic and research and facilitating cohesion between the "N" departments of the HUG and the link with local, national, and international research institutions. It fulfills a dual interconnected mission: i) Clinic: improving patient pathways requiring multiple specialists (neurosurgery, neurology, ENT, neuroradiology); ii) Research: supporting clinical studies at HUG or in external collaboration, ensuring Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and institutional, Swiss, and international regulatory compliance.
Its goal is to establish a structure, concentrate centers of excellence, create an identity, and build necessary links to translate advances in clinical research into concrete benefits for patients.
Training of interns, supervision of trainees, and development of databases are also part of its missions.
The Brain and Mental Health Consultation is the result of close collaboration between the departments of psychiatry and clinical neurosciences of the HUG, which was established at the Campus Biotech in Geneva (CBT) on
November 1, 2024.
Its objective is to offer complementary care to that provided at HUG to neurological patients (patients suffering from traumatic brain injury) and psychiatric patients (psychosis spectrum disorders), in order to better define diagnosis and develop new treatment strategies.
Patients have access to specialized clinical follow-ups thanks to a dedicated multidisciplinary team, including neuropsychologists, neurosurgeons, psychiatrists, without having to return to the hospital environment. Complete end-to-end clinical care pathways (from initial care to return home or to adapted structures) are established by the respective neurology, psychiatry, and neurosurgery teams of HUG in collaboration with the NeuroCentre, around various neuronal pathologies.
The Brain and Mental Health Consultation is part of the development of the patient pathway and aims to create an effective synergy between HUG clinical skills and the Campus Biotech research platform, to inspire treatments with new innovative tools from research.
Indeed, at Campus Biotech, several teams are available to offer participation in translational research projects, to advance understanding of cognitive and motivational disorders, and pave the way for new adapted treatment strategies. An additional asset is the creation of clinical registries to better document and understand targeted pathologies as well as applied treatments, with standardized and anonymized quality data.
The activity of the NeuroCentre and that of the Brain and Mental Health Consultation together allow personalized patient care and strongly promote bilateral interaction as well as fruitful cooperation between health and research professionals to provide high-quality care and cutting-edge translational research.
