Internship in Social Services 80%Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders, the prevention of recidivism, as well as the detention and preparation of the departure of persons without a valid residence permit are of particular importance.
The main department of remand prisons Zurich (UGZ) - one of seven main departments of JuWe - currently operates seven prisons for provisional detention, investigative and security custody.
For the Social Services division, we are looking for a committed, team-oriented, and responsible individual for a fixed term of six months starting 01.08.2026 or by arrangement.
The assignment takes place two days per week at Horgen Prison, 40 percent, and two days per week at Zurich West Prison, also 40 percent.
Your tasks
- Support in the socio-pedagogical care of inmates within the special department for integration enforcement
- Independently conducting entry interviews and drafting enforcement plans
- Support in material assistance and contact mediation in the areas of work, housing, finances, and social assistance
- Preparing and reviewing requests for enforcement leave such as outings, material and relationship leave, and ensuring the leave process
- Administrative tasks such as general correspondence, file management, leave requests with program checks, requests for conditional releases with recommendations, and enforcement reports
- Participation in team meetings and projects
Your profile
- Interest in criminal law topics and willingness to engage with people in difficult situations and from diverse social and cultural backgrounds
- Started or completed bachelor's degree in social work
- Stable and communicative personality
- High mental and physical resilience
- Initial administrative experience and pronounced organizational skills
