Your tasks:
The fundamentals of chemistry form the basis for a profound understanding of scientific processes in the life sciences. In this position, you provide students with a modern, practice-oriented education in the fundamentals of chemistry and thus make a significant contribution to the interdisciplinary qualification in the degree program. You actively engage in applied research, especially in the fields of analytical and organic chemistry, and further develop innovative approaches for teaching and research. Your tasks include:
The position is initially limited to 2 years – with the option of extension.
- Practice-oriented teaching in general and inorganic chemistry at the bachelor level as well as the development and implementation of exercises
- Teaching experimental basic skills for safe, sustainable, and understanding-oriented work in chemical and biological laboratories
- Further development of practical courses, especially in the area of technical basic training
- Application of modern chemical and analytical methods for experimental questions, e.g., in the areas of spectroscopy, chromatography, laboratory automation, or reaction-oriented synthetic chemistry
- Supervision and professional guidance of students in project and thesis work
The position is initially limited to 2 years – with the option of extension.
Your profile:
You have solid expertise in general, inorganic, and ideally also organic chemistry. You enjoy working both independently in the laboratory and in a team with colleagues and students. Additionally, you bring:
- University degree (MSc), ideally with a doctorate, in chemistry or a related field
- Practical experience in experimental inorganic and general chemistry, complemented by knowledge of analytical methods (e.g., titrations, spectroscopic techniques, chromatographic methods)
- Additional experience in organic or analytical research as well as digital methods (such as ELN, data analysis) is an advantage
- Enjoyment of teaching, strong didactic skills, and interest in further developing teaching materials and methods
- Very good German and English skills, both spoken and written
- Communication skills as well as the ability to build and maintain an interdisciplinary network within the university.
Teaching at FHNW is the interface between education, professional activity, and continuing professional development – challenging and at the same time meaningful. It enables staff to impart knowledge in a practice-oriented manner and to directly implement research results. At the same time, the exchange with students in education and training broadens and inspires the perspective on one’s own field.
Will you soon be part of our team? We look forward to receiving your application by May 8, 2026.
