The Bern Historical Museum is one of the most important cultural history museums in Switzerland. It is a growing repository of knowledge and experience for the culture and history of Bern and the world. The collections on history, archaeology, and ethnography comprise around 567,000 objects. They offer insights into living environments from different historical epochs and cultural contexts.
In a partnership with the Swiss National Bank (SNB), the Bern Historical Museum is creating an inspiring learning and experience center on the topic of «money» , located in the heart of Bern's old town. It will open in spring 2026 in the Kaiserhaus. The Bern Historical Museum and its staff are responsible for the operation, mediation, and continuous development of the offerings.
For the newly created mediation team, we are looking for several people starting February 1, 2026

Are you passionate about lively mediation and a lived culture of welcome?
At the visitor center, you actively shape encounters with our guests, convey content about the exhibition theme of money in an inspiring way, and ensure that visitors feel welcome from the very first moment.
Your main tasks
- Conducting introductions and interactive tours for school classes and adult groups
- Promoting dialogue and engagement with exhibition topics
- Welcoming, advising, and orienting visitors
- Supporting the operation of the visitor center, communicating with the team, and co-responsibility for safety, technology, and exhibition rooms
- Participating in events
Requirements
You have a completed or ongoing degree (MA level) in pedagogy, cultural mediation, economics, communication, social/humanities sciences, or higher education in service sectors such as tourism and hospitality. You engage with the topic of «money» with lively interest and can convey the acquired knowledge in a target group-appropriate and vivid manner. Proven experience in mediation and enjoyment in interacting with different target groups characterize you. You convince with strong communication skills, teamwork, and resilience. Good German and French skills are part of your qualifications, as well as secure knowledge of another language (English or Italian). You are flexibly available at least three weekdays between Tuesday and Sunday and are also willing to work occasional evening shifts. Your independent and reliable working style rounds off your profile.
