About the job
Internship Area Monitoring (80-100%)
The research unit Forest Health and Biotic Interactions investigates the influence of biotic and abiotic factors on forest health and develops scientific foundations for the protection of the forest and its biodiversity. In the Forest Protection Switzerland group, we offer a 6-month internship for the Area Monitoring project starting from May 1, 2026.
The WSL area monitoring is a nationwide monitoring program that monitors primary quarantine organisms in the forest. Traps are set up in different regions, and the samples are sent to WSL for analysis.
The focus of your work is to support this and various other projects. You will gain experience in the laboratory and field and will be introduced to work in laboratories with biosafety levels 2 & 3. You will gain insight into the handling of non-native organisms in Switzerland. A large part of the internship consists of the morphological identification of insect samples. In addition, there will be various other projects and tasks where we appreciate your support.
