This pivotal role within our R&D team will contribute to advancing the state-of-the-art in Digital Twin analytics.
About Akselos:
Akselos is a pioneer in digital technology, revolutionizing the energy industry with our state-of-the-art simulation engineering software. Headquartered in Europe with a strong presence across Southeast Asia and the USA, we specialize in protecting critical infrastructure. Our software supports structural health monitoring, offers engineering services for building digital twins, and provides a collaborative platform for engineers, contractors, and operators, making us a leader in modern engineering solutions.
About This Role:
As a Machine Learning Engineering - Intern within our R&D Department, you will be instrumental in developing and integrating ML-driven solutions for structural Digital Twins. Working with real-time sensor data and high-speed simulation outputs, you will design and implement intelligent pipelines to automatically detect anomalies and predict critical fatigue events, translating complex analysis into clear, actionable insights for end users.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement Machine Learning models to analyze time-series sensor data, identifying abnormal operating conditions and critical fatigue cycles.
- Integrate developed ML models into our Digital Twin framework to enable near real-time analysis.
- Leverage Large Language Models (LLMs) to generate concise, human-readable status reports, alerts, and recommended actions for operators.
- Validate algorithms against historical case studies and refine models based on feedback from engineering experts.
- Collaborate closely with software engineers and domain specialists to ensure solutions are robust, scalable, and production-ready.
- Contribute to delivering a prototype pipeline for ingesting live sensor feeds, flagging critical conditions automatically, and generating natural-language notifications.
Your Qualifications and Experience:
- Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
- Machine Learning & Data Science:
- Hands-on experience with Python data libraries (NumPy, Pandas) and ML frameworks (scikit-learn, PyTorch or TensorFlow).
- Familiarity with time-series analysis and anomaly detection techniques.
- Software Development:
- Strong coding skills in Python, including experience with unit testing and version control (Git).
- Comfortable working within a larger Python codebase.
- Analytical & Collaborative Mindset:
- Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
- Good communication skills in English, both written (clear reports) and verbal (presenting technical results).
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams is a plus.
- Preferred skills:
- Basic understanding of finite element methods and/or structural mechanics, fatigue.
- Experience calling and fine-tuning or prompt-engineering large language models (OpenAI API or similar)
