In this, we are the professionals in the Electrification & Automation business unit of Smart Infrastructure. Energy transmission and distribution as well as management systems, automation, and control technology are the main pillars of our business unit. In addition, protection systems for high and medium voltage installations secure our energy supply.
The trainee program at Siemens Smart Infrastructure in the Electrification & Automation sector is designed for 18 months and includes three assignments in which you will get to know the business segments of medium voltage switchgear, low voltage switchgear, as well as protection and control technology more closely. Depending on operational possibilities as well as the skills and interests of the trainees, focal points can be set within the segments. Training and further education are highly valued.

Your new tasks
- Familiarization with the entire product portfolio of Smart Infrastructure Electrification & Automation
- Building solid knowledge in the segments of medium voltage technology, low voltage technology, as well as protection and control technology
- Getting to know all relevant tools and processes of sales, project management, and service
- Engineering and commissioning from field to station level including networks as well as conducting integration tests and commissioning of customer systems in our test laboratory and on site in Switzerland
- Collaboration for active sales support of medium and low voltage systems (concept definitions, project planning, preparation of offers, price indications, and offer presentations)
- Deepening, applying, and consolidating the acquired knowledge in various segments and projects (e.g., sales consulting, engineering, project management, and service)
- Support by a mentor and building a comprehensive network
- Preparation for a demanding position following the one-and-a-half-year program depending on personal strengths and preferences
Your talents and experience
- Completed bachelor's or master's degree (FH/university) or training at a higher technical school (HF) in electrical engineering, energy and environmental technology, automation, or a comparable field of study with above-average grades
- First professional experience in a relevant field (e.g., medium voltage technology, low voltage technology, station automation, and/or protection technology)
- Strong interest in operational, technical tasks as well as customer knowledge (utilities) in the Swiss energy market is an advantage
- High resilience and willingness to perform at a high level
- Team player with pronounced communication skills, high social competence, and a structured way of working
- Communicative and customer-oriented personality who wants to contribute and further develop technical know-how
- Willingness to travel occasionally
- Excellent German and English skills in spoken and written form, additional language skills in French or Italian are an advantage
- Start from August 1, 2026, or by arrangement
