With nearly 1,200 employees, the Department of Acute Medicine (DMA) includes the Anesthesiology, Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology, Intensive Care, and Emergency Services. It fulfills a fourfold mission through its services, which provide their expertise in frequent interaction with all Geneva University Hospitals, thanks to a transversal platform, aiming to ensure the best possible care for patients.
The Emergency Department is a transversal service whose missions are to welcome patients 24/7 regardless of the nature of their health problem, to ensure rapid and effective care in order to direct the patients to the most appropriate structure. The Emergency Department also provides urgent medical assistance at the cantonal level, coordinates and manages major events, while being a reference service for the canton’s structures.
Job Description
As a Care Team Leader (RES), you exercise your leadership in a context of organizational transformation in care. Thanks to your interpersonal skills, motivational abilities, and open-mindedness, you promote interdisciplinary work and develop team spirit to ensure the quality and efficiency of care provided to patients.
You coordinate and organize the proper allocation of nursing staff resources and define the team schedules and the distribution of skills according to the specific needs of your unit. You ensure individual follow-up of your team members and provide feedback on their practice in a continuous improvement approach.
You rely on your sense of diplomacy to manage disagreements that may arise and know how to adapt your communication with your team, your RES colleagues in the service, and the patients and their relatives.
In terms of professional practices, you participate in their evolution within your unit and the service by developing collective and transversal skills and knowledge in collaboration with the clinical specialist.
As a member of the DMA management team, you act as an ambassador of the care vision and contribute to promoting it. You are involved and participate in the transversal management of the Emergency Department within your role as a proximity manager.
Qualifications
You hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or an equivalent recognized diploma by the Swiss Red Cross.
You have completed or are considering management training (CAS in management).
You possess an EPD-ES diploma in acute medicine.
You have five years of nursing experience within an acute medicine service.
You have already performed management, organizational delegation activities, or ideally have at least 2 years of managerial experience.
Cantonal practice rights are essential.
You have a sense of responsibility, organization, and priorities. You demonstrate proactivity, are a source of proposals while being able to meet challenges. Team spirit is an essential value for you.
You possess analytical and synthesis skills in a continuous quality improvement process.
