Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and employs around 1,400 women and men with diverse professional profiles. JuWe is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For JuWe employees, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The main department of remand prisons Zurich (UGZ) - one of seven main departments of JuWe - currently operates seven prisons for pre-trial and security detention. Two of these, the Zurich and Pfäffikon prisons, have joined forces and offer space for a total of 233 incarcerated persons.
Starting immediately or by arrangement, limited to six months, we are looking for a committed, dynamic, and humorous personality for the Zurich prison.
This is your field of activity
- You supervise the creative workshop, provide support in the supermarket, laundry, kitchen, instruct incarcerated persons in simple packaging, folding, renovation, etc. tasks, and occasionally carry out transports
- You acquire orders and ensure quality and occupational safety standards
- You perform administrative tasks such as preparing reports and assessments of incarcerated persons
- You do not work night shifts but occasionally work weekends as part of the care work in the enforcement department
- You shape a culture in which the relationship with people in correctional services is factual, reflective, binding, respectful, and consistent
This is what you bring with you
- Ideally, you have completed a vocational training in a craft and have a forklift license or are willing to obtain one
- You can express yourself confidently in written and spoken German and optionally have good knowledge of another language
- You have good IT user skills and are proficient with the MS Office suite
- You understand how to consciously regulate closeness and distance to incarcerated persons and are characterized by high social competence and assertiveness
- You are physically and mentally resilient and can reconcile day, holiday, and weekend shifts with your other commitments
- You have an impeccable reputation (no entries in the criminal record and debt enforcement register)
