What to expect
- Design and implementation of a scalable, domain-independent data infrastructure on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) using technologies such as BigQuery, Iceberg, Apache Beam, Spark, and Airflow
- Development of reusable blueprints and templates so that engineering teams can build, operate, and maintain data ingestion, data transformations, and data quality checks
- Close collaboration with engineering teams in the introduction of data products and the development of complex data models (snowflake models) for their business domains
- Conducting workshops and training sessions to educate domain teams on the use of our data platform and best practices (including ETL/ELT and orchestration tools)
- Integration of data catalogue tools as well as support in building a federated data governance structure to ensure corporate policies and regulatory requirements
- Continuous development of the data architecture through feedback from business units and monitoring of new technological trends
What you bring
- Completed studies (Bachelor or Master) in computer science, data science, information systems, or a comparable field
- At least 5 years of professional experience in data engineering or a similar role with a focus on cloud platforms (preferably GCP)
- Proven experience in building data platforms, data lakehouses, or data warehouses as well as knowledge of data mesh principles
- Very good knowledge of technologies such as BigQuery, GCS, Apache Beam, Spark, Airflow, Kafka, and data catalogue tools
- Experience in building and implementing data governance frameworks as well as working in agile environments (Scrum, Kanban)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills as well as the ability to work cross-functionally
- Analytical and strategic thinking combined with high initiative
- Very good German and English skills, both spoken and written
