Chief Resident or Deputy Chief Resident in Palliative Care
As part of the expansion of its 14-bed hospitalization unit, the Palliative Care Service of the Department of Medicine is recruiting a chief resident or deputy chief resident at 80%, starting January 1, 2026.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, it plays a leading role in medical care, research, and education.
The Palliative Care Service provides specialized and comprehensive care for patients through several facilities: an acute hospitalization unit, an intra-hospital consultation team, an extra-hospital mobile team, and an outpatient consultation. It also conducts clinical, educational, and research activities integrated into the university mission.
Mission
- You ensure comprehensive patient care, in connection with the intra- and extra-hospital mobile teams
- You supervise the service's assistant physicians and interns
- You actively participate in clinical conferences and training seminars
- You take part in the service's second-line on-call duties
- You assist the head of service in teaching, research, and management activities.
Profile
- You hold a federal medical diploma (or recognized MEBEKO if obtained abroad)
- You have at least 3 years of experience in acute internal hospital medicine
- You have at least one year of experience in palliative care or a related discipline
- You enjoy interdisciplinary work and have excellent communication skills
- You are motivated by palliative care and wish to contribute to its development
- You master spoken and written French (minimum B2 level required).
