In the study as a Nursing Specialist HF, with a focus on nursing and care of people with long-term illnesses, you take on the competent and professional care and support of residents at the St. Urban retirement home. You work in various living groups, e.g., with people with dementia or in the nursing living group. You perform nursing and medical actions, take on professional and leadership responsibilities in shift work, and work with an interdisciplinary team. You provide security and respond competently and solution-oriented even in complex and difficult situations. Managing nursing documentation and participating in the nursing process, as well as implementing measures, are also part of your responsibilities. You also contribute to prevention and quality assurance.
Training
- Duration 3 years, shortened form 2 years
- During the training, Nursing HF students are employed at the St. Urban retirement home and are in a training relationship with ZAG Winterthur or Careum Zurich.
- The training takes place 50% at ZAG and 50% in internship at the St. Urban retirement home. Alternating half-yearly at school, half-yearly in practice.

- Federal diploma, Matura or FMS graduation
- Passed admission procedure with aptitude assessment at ZAG or Careum
- Interest and joy in dealing with elderly and demented people
- Empathy and good social skills
- Good observation and perception skills
- Independent, reliable, and professional way of working
- High sense of responsibility and flexibility
- Very good German skills in spoken and written form
