Job Description
The Swiss COO Business Risk Manager (BRM) is accountable for the design, implementation and development of a comprehensive and robust risk and control framework within the Chief Operating Officer (COO) function in Switzerland.
The candidate will collaborate closely with the various departments within the COO function in Switzerland (such as Information Technology, Information Security, Operations, Central Filing, Procurement), acting as a central interface between the First Line of Defence and the Second Line of Defence. Main duties include:
- Identify the key risks associated to the COO processes in Switzerland and design the required mitigating controls, ensuring adherence to internal regulations, regulatory requirements and industry best practices
- Regularly review and enhance the control framework of the COO area and oversee its implementation at Swiss level
- Monitor the effectiveness of the controls environment and coordinate the Risk Control Self-Assessment for the COO area in Switzerland
- Closely collaborate with the key stakeholders in the COO function for the definition of action plans to mitigate residual risks and address control gaps
- Support Swiss COO teams to analyse root causes of operational risk incidents and identify corrective measures
- Oversee the remediation of findings and recommendations from internal and external auditors
- Proactively escalate material incidents and control weaknesses
- Coordinate reporting on COO risk management matters to management committees in Switzerland
- Conduct thematic reviews on critical processes, challenging the existing processes
- Partner with Bank’s Legal Entities outside Switzerland to foster consistency and harmonization of risk management practice within the COO area
Skills and experience
- University degree in Management, Economics, or technical fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
- Minimum 15 years of experience in the banking sector, preferably in a Risk & Control, Audit or Business Risk Management (BRM) role within Private Banking
- Strong understanding of banking processes, products and the associated regulatory requirements
- Excellent communication skills in English, both in verbal and written. Knowledge of German, French or Italian would be a plus
- Self-motivated, organised, able to work under pressure and to manage priorities in a rapidly evolving context
- Strong interpersonal skills and multicultural awareness and sensitivity
- Innovative mindset, able to identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency
