The Head Strategy – Small Molecules will drive organic and inorganic growth strategy programs for the exciting Small Molecules segment, acting as the ‘spider in the web’ across a wide array of stakeholders (incl. top management) across Business and Functions to ensure alignment on the definition and execution of initiatives critical to the company’s ambitious growth plans.

Job Description
Strategy
- Refine, execute and track 5-year strategic plan for Small Molecules segment in alignment with organizational and corporate objectives, collaborating with key stakeholders across functions and report progress regularly to top management
- Own the M&A pipeline (criteria definition, scouting & screening – to hand over to the owner’s deal team & synergy assessment) for Small Molecules segment, aiming for targets that fill Solvias capability gaps or accelerate revenue and EBITDA objectives
- Support strategic projects and initiatives (ex. in Digital area) that strengthen Solvias’ value chain
Product & Portfolio Management
- Track portfolio profitability & KPIs, per customer, service and location, driving optimization initiatives (e.g., long-tail management) – in collaboration with Finance
- Portfolio Management: Drive business cases for portfolio development / maintenance / rationalization for Small Molecules segment, in collaboration with Marketing, Science and Finance
- Ensure that client acquisition & maintenance is in line with segmentation strategy in collaboration with Marketing
Go to Market
- Market Intelligence: Conduct thorough market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and threats within Small Molecules segment (e.g., size & growth, competitors, segmentation, unmet needs, competitive and regulatory landscape & developments) and disseminate within organization, acting as internal domain expert in collaboration with Marketing
- Positioning: Articulate target customers, value proposition and sources of differentiation for Small Molecules segment in collaboration with Marketing
- Pricing: Refine pricing framework and run governance accordingly
- Partnerships: Assess key potential partnerships for assigned segment – in collaboration with EC
Requirements
- Master’s degree in scientific or business discipline
- Significant experience of Strategy, Marketing, Business Development or similar role, ideally in the pharmaceutical or consulting industry
- Proven track record of driving strategic initiatives and delivering measurable results
- Strategic Planning, Project Management, Financial Modeling, Market & Competitive Insights, segmentation
- Hands on, team player, analytical problem solver, excellent oral and written communication skills including executive and board level presentations, ability to lead through influence and motivation, ability to see the forest and the trees
- Proficiency in English; additional languages (esp. German, French) are a plus
- Proficient in MS-Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint; PowerBI)
