If you want to work outdoors instead of sitting inside and are fascinated by trains and technology – then training as a rail track builder is just right for you!
Starting September 1, 2026, we are looking for you for the 3-year training as a rail track builder (m/f/d) for DB InfraGO AG. You will complete your training at the practical location in Basel. Your place of work is within walking distance from the station. In addition, you will attend vocational school and training workshop in alternating blocks. These are located in Ludwigshafen (Rhine). There, you will be provided with a free dormitory place. Your train rides there will also be covered by us so that you can always go home on weekends.
What to expect during your training:
You work with your team outdoors on construction sites on our tracks
Together you lay new rails and switches, check everything for damage, and replace broken parts
With the help of modern machines, you renew the ballast under the tracks
You pay close attention to all measurements – so that trains run smoothly and safely later
During your training as a rail track builder, you are already an important part of the team and ensure every day that our trains run reliably
Skills
Your profile:
You have (soon) successfully completed school and your school leaving certificate is recognized in Germany
Your German language skills correspond to at least the B2 level
Sitting at a desk is not for you – you prefer to work outdoors
You are motivated and reliable
You enjoy teamwork and like to pitch in
Different workplaces and working hours as well as night shifts are a welcome change for you
For this training, an aptitude test awaits you as part of the selection process. On our career page, you will find everything about the background, the process, and the ideal preparation.
