About the job
Your new role
Starting immediately or by arrangement, we offer you an exciting and varied six-month internship at the Botanical Garden. In this position, you will assist in the cultivation and care of plants for the outdoor facilities and show houses and contribute to the positive appearance of the Botanical Garden.
This position is for you if
- You have completed your high school diploma and want to do a horticultural and environmental internship before studying
- You want to see behind the scenes of a Botanical Garden
- You are interested in the culture and care of plants
- You enjoy working in and with nature
- You have technical understanding and manual skills

Your department
City Green plans, designs, and maintains the public green spaces of the City of St.Gallen. We are responsible for the green areas of sports and school facilities, parks, street trees, playgrounds, cemeteries, nature and landscape protection, as well as the Botanical Garden. This houses over 8,000 plants from around the world, thriving in five public show houses, the orangery, and on an outdoor area of nearly two hectares. The Botanical Garden has a library, a seed bank, and offers mushroom inspections. It is a place of recreation, relaxation, and knowledge transfer.
