Is this helpful?
The Public Prosecutor's Office II of the Canton of Zurich conducts criminal investigations against adults in the areas of cybercrime and organized crime as well as special investigations (including official offenses, corruption, offenses against the state).
We are looking for a motivated individual for our dedicated team at the Police and Justice Center Zurich starting February 1, 2026, or by arrangement, as a legal assistant public prosecutor (limited until 31.12.2028).
What to expect from us
The prosecution of cybercrime presents law enforcement authorities with increasingly complex and technically demanding challenges. Proceedings are becoming more complex, international, and data-intensive – requiring new approaches and specialized support. The public prosecutor's offices of the Canton of Zurich have created a new job profile in the legal middle management aimed at individuals who are not seeking training as public prosecutors but want to directly participate in demanding proceedings in a support role. In this exciting new role, you can support our public prosecutors closely from day one in their case management and work directly on complex cases of qualified cybercrime (Department D). These include offenses in the areas of ransomware, darknet, cryptocurrencies, and child exploitation.
Your tasks include, among others:
- Preparation of applications and orders for coercive measures (including secret surveillance measures)
- Preparation of mutual legal assistance requests, indictment facts, other resolutions, and pleadings
- Gathering evidence (in cooperation with the police) for interrogations and preparation of interrogations
- Drafting legal memos (e.g., for appeal proceedings)
Depending on your level of experience, you will also independently handle cases under the responsibility of a public prosecutor. This is a new job profile; candidacy with a view to obtaining the eligibility certificate for public prosecutors is therefore not intended. The positions are limited within the framework of a pilot project until the end of 2028.
How to convince us
Requirements for this position are a completed law degree and relevant professional experience with good qualifications, preferably with law enforcement or judicial authorities or in legal practice. A lawyer's license or similar additional professional qualifications are advantageous. Excellent knowledge of criminal and criminal procedure law, fluent German in speech and writing, and good command of English are fundamental skills in our field. You also have high self-motivation and work efficiently and purposefully, but with the necessary care. Furthermore, we expect integrity, discretion, resilience, confident demeanor, and pronounced teamwork skills.
What we offer you
Working in our team is an investment in your future and a unique experience: you are involved from the very first moment, benefiting from the experience and expertise of our public prosecutors. Your workplace is located in the Police and Justice Center in Zurich. Employment conditions correspond to cantonal guidelines. Classification is in salary class 18.
For further information, lic. iur. Anna Cartner, Head of Department, is happy to assist you (anna.cartner@ji.zh.ch).
We look forward to receiving your application by January 11, 2026, at the latest via our job portal.
