Assistant Professor in Communication & Media Sciences

40 - 50% at the Department of Communication Sciences

Field of activity

Contract duration: one year, then extendable by 4 years.

The assistant professor provides four hours/year of teaching, mainly within the Bachelor in Communication Sciences (French-speaking) and, if necessary, in the Master in Business Communication

He/she supervises Bachelor and Master theses, as well as seminar papers

He/she conducts high-quality research projects, publishes the results, and works to obtain research funding

Position initially at 50%; possibility to supplement the contract with additional teaching load; possibility to increase the rate up to 100% from December 1, 2029; salary will be set according to the University of Fribourg guidelines.

Requirements

Degree: Excellent doctoral thesis in communication or a closely related field

Skills: The selected candidate must demonstrate research interests and results in the field of communication and media, preferably in journalism studies, as well as proven methodological skills. Knowledge of quantitative methods is considered an asset for teaching. The selected candidate knows how to plan and implement Bachelor-level teaching. International research experience is an additional asset

Languages: Perfect command of French; very good command of English; good knowledge of German is considered an additional asset
