The Civil Engineering Office of the Canton of St.Gallen is responsible for the planning, construction, operation, and maintenance of the cantonal road network, which comprises around 655 km of roads. The cantonal road inspectorate ensures the operation and maintenance of the cantonal roads according to economic and traffic safety principles.
