Social Worker in a Medical Environment for the Somatic Social Service
The CHUV is looking for a 100% social worker in a medical environment, on a permanent contract, to strengthen the team of the Somatic Social Service.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, it plays a leading role in the fields of medical care, medical research, and education.
Attached to the Care Directorate, the Somatic Social Service of the CHUV is available to patients and their families to discreetly support them in resolving administrative, financial, legal, family, or psychosocial issues related to hospitalization or outpatient follow-up.
Mission
- You work across all sectors covered by the Social Service to replace, for short or long periods, the absence of a social worker colleague
- You provide psychosocial support, as well as administrative, logistical, financial, or legal assistance to hospitalized patients (including people without legal status and/or without insurance)
- You collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team in charge of hospitalized patients
- You inform, advise, guide, and support families in all necessary procedures related to hospitalization
- You coordinate with services and associations in the Vaud and Romandy social and health network related to patients' health issues.
Profile
- You hold a HES diploma as a social worker
- You have at least 2 years of professional experience, ideally in a hospital environment
- You are versatile and ready to work in different sectors according to the service's needs
- You have a strong interest in health issues and access to care
- You master Swiss social insurances
- You have a good knowledge of Vaud social institutions, administrative and legal structures
- You know how to work in a social and multidisciplinary team, in a network
- You are autonomous, able to interact with people made vulnerable by their medical situation
- You are comfortable with common IT tools (MS Office) and demonstrate good writing skills.
