The Hospital Network Appenzell Ausserrhoden with the acute hospital Herisau and the Psychiatric Center AR in Herisau ensures extended basic medical care for the population in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden and is also the first point of contact for a large part of the population of the surrounding region. Both locations are relevant for care for the canton and beyond.
