For the Accounting & Cash department in the Finance Directorate, we are looking for an experienced, strong leadership, and solution-oriented personality with high analytical competence and pronounced implementation strength to start immediately or by arrangement.
Your tasks
In this key position, you bear overall responsibility for the operational and strategic management of the Accounting & Cash department and actively contribute as a central leadership figure to the further development of the university's financial management.- Leadership & Development: Professional and personnel management of three teams as well as targeted promotion of employee development.
- Finance and Accounting: Ensuring proper bookkeeping, compliance with IKS processes, and preparation of annual financial statements and reports according to Swiss GAAP FER.
- Digitization & Process Management: Active further development and digitization of financial processes (automation, standardization, digital workflows).
- Cash Management: Responsibility for liquidity planning, loans, payment transactions, and financial asset accounting.
- Consulting & Collaboration: Sparring partner for the Finance Directorate and university units on finance-related questions and analyses.
- Audit & External Stakeholders: Central contact person for the audit office and lead coordination of cooperation with the cantons of Basel-Stadt and Basel-Landschaft.
Your profile
- University degree in business administration, finance, or accounting or an equivalent qualification (e.g., certified auditor, expert in accounting & controlling).
- Several years of leadership and professional experience in finance and accounting, ideally in the public sector or university environment.
- Very good knowledge of Swiss GAAP FER and high confidence in closing complex issues.
- Experience with SAP (preferably S/4HANA) as well as pronounced competence in digitizing and optimizing financial processes.
- Clear, appreciative leadership, strong communication skills, strategic thinking ability, and enthusiasm for change and transformation processes.
