Internship in Comparison of 3D simulation results (m/f) 60-100%
- 02 March 2026
- 60 – 100%
- Permanent position
- Zurich
About the job
Identification of differences in Sheet Metal Simulation resultsAt AutoForm, simulation results typically consist of scalar, vector or tensor data located on surface meshes. These results are persisted to a file over a series of time steps. Recently, we have developed an innovative library that compresses such simulation results effectively.
In this internship, you will work with our in-house compression library and develop a tool that reads simulation results generated from two software revisions and identify and quantify numerical differences. Since the 3D meshes may change from one software revision to the next, you will need to implement an appropriate mapping between the two meshes to be able to compute differences. The goal is to integrate this tool into our existing QA infrastructure to report differences to the responsible developers and help point out unintended changes to the simulation results originating from our compression library. Your work will be a valuable contribution to our QA efforts, focusing on the persistence of simulation results.
You will collaborate closely with the Persistence development team that is developing the compression library. You will also interface with the Performance team that is responsible for running the automated QA tests.
