Head of Operations

Graubünden Civil Engineering Office, District 7 Thusis | 80-100% | Thusis

The Civil Engineering Office is responsible for the planning, construction, maintenance, and operation of the cantonal roads as well as water engineering and slow traffic in Graubünden. We also take care of the operational maintenance of the national roads within the canton. The canton’s road infrastructure includes over 1,450 engineering structures, including bridges at dizzying heights up to 90 meters and tunnels up to 3 kilometers long. The challenges posed by the nature of our mountain canton in summer and winter make our work demanding and diverse. We are looking for a Head of Operations for the Road Maintenance Department in District 7 Thusis from September 1, 2026 or by agreement.

Your area of responsibility

Professional and personnel leadership of the operational maintenance team
Planning and execution of the operational maintenance of cantonal and national roads
Deployment planning of the four maintenance groups with a total of around 25 employees, vehicles, and equipment in cooperation with your four directly subordinate foremen
Support of the Construction Department with construction management tasks for the structural maintenance of cantonal roads
Providing on-call service as an operations manager and participating in avalanche service standby

What we expect from you

Qualification as a foreman or construction manager
Several years of experience in road construction or road maintenance
Leadership experience and entrepreneurial thinking
Assertiveness and initiative
High independence and sense of responsibility
Good IT user skills
Very good German language skills, spoken and written
Good Italian language skills are an advantage
