The Papiliorama Foundation is very pleased about the successful apprenticeship completion of animal caretaker Lars Hofmann and warmly congratulates him.
The apprenticeship completion was duly celebrated last Friday with an aperitif. Lars will remain with Papiliorama for a few months after his apprenticeship. We sincerely thank him for his great commitment and are very proud of his achievement!
The Papiliorama Foundation has been successfully training animal caretakers in the field of wildlife for about 20 years. During the 3 years of apprenticeship, the trainees work 4 days in the company and attend vocational school in Olten one day a week. In the annual inter-company courses, certain topics are specifically deepened. In the company, the trainees change their area every few months so that they become familiar with all animal species, as well as topics such as nutrition, medical care, or hygiene. They also learn how to build and set up a species-appropriate enclosure or how to ensure water quality in an aquarium or pond. In addition, they are introduced to the European and worldwide zoo network and are also involved in managing the international database and animal transports.
The animal caretaker training is extremely versatile and exciting. The Papiliorama Foundation offers an apprenticeship position annually, either as initial training or as a lateral entrant from another profession. For the apprenticeship starting in August 2021, an information evening will take place in October. Suitable candidates will then be invited for a trial apprenticeship.
