The Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology METAS is the reference institute for measurements and measuring instruments in Switzerland. To ensure that a liter is always a liter (e.g., when refueling), METAS carries out calibrations, conformity assessments, and consultations for business, research, and administration. Measurement accuracy creates trust, especially at the societal and political level, and is indispensable in many areas: road traffic, electricity billing, time transfer, measurements in environmental and health sectors, etc. At METAS, various disciplines come together and complement each other – and this has been the case since 1862.

Your new challenge

• Leading the interdisciplinary measurement equipment development team of 7 employees (design, electronics, and software engineers), including personnel development, resource, and deployment planning
• Responsibility for the measurement equipment development and lifecycle management processes including continuous improvement process (CIP) and further development
• Coordination and prioritization of development projects with the metrological laboratories and specialist departments, production, and management
• Participation in measurement equipment development in your own field of expertise (design, electronics, or software)
• Further development of development environments including data management, AI tools, and parts lists

Your profile

• Completed university degree (FH / ETH) in a technically interdisciplinary field such as microtechnology, systems engineering, mechatronics, or comparable, and further education in leadership
• Solid knowledge in design, electronics, and software development and a proven specialization with verifiable performance in at least one of these disciplines
• Leadership experience combined with strong teamwork skills, initiative, and a pronounced openness to technological changes
• Enthusiasm for interdisciplinary issues, combined with practical skills, strong communication abilities, and a structured approach
• Active knowledge of two official languages (German / French) and English
