Database team leader at the Information Systems Department
The Information Systems Department (DSI) of CHUV is looking for a database team leader to manage the DBA team and ensure the performance, security, and optimization of database infrastructures.
Context
Attached to the Information Systems Department (DSI) of CHUV, the infrastructure group is tasked with providing services in four areas: database management, servers, computer network, as well as fixed and mobile telephony.
Join a team of 5 experienced people, with a strong spirit of solidarity and mutual support. They ensure the availability of CHUV databases 24/7, on an Oracle Cloud ExaCC "on premise" infrastructure, with very complex deployment types, such as SQL "Always On" servers.
We are talking about more than 100 MS SQL servers, 6 Oracle clusters on ExaCC, 2000 databases, over 100TB of data, and up to 10,000 simultaneous connections.
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
Mission
- You supervise and manage the DBA engineer team
- You design, deploy, and administer databases (mainly Oracle and MS SQL)
- You ensure the security, integrity, and availability of data
- You implement data protection strategies (replication, snapshots, backups) and high availability, in line with the RPO and RTO of applications
- You optimize performance and ensure scalability
- You collaborate with infrastructure, application, data, and security teams
- You keep up with technological developments and propose improvements.
Profile
- You hold a university degree (EPF/HES) or equivalent in an IT field
- You have demonstrated skills and experience in managing technical teams
- You have proven experience in database administration (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MS SQL...) in large and complex environments
- You master monitoring and performance optimization solutions
- You demonstrate analytical thinking, rigor, and the ability to organize the handling and resolution of complex problems
- You show leadership, a good sense of responsibility, and strong decision-making ability
- You have knowledge or initial experience with cloud environments (Oracle, Azure, GCP, AWS.)
