About the job
In the specialized field of Telecommunication of the Bern Cantonal Police, you work where security is guaranteed by technology. Through your expertise, you ensure that POLYCOM, mobile communication, and special electronics operate reliably at all times – both daily and in extraordinary situations. Your work makes all the difference for the police as well as for other authorities and organizations responsible for rescue and security (AOSS) in the canton of Bern.
Your tasks
- Ensure the smooth operation of the telecommunication networks of the Bern Cantonal Police and the POLYCOM security radio network in the canton of Bern
- Configuration, commissioning, and operation of transmission stations via microwave link, routers/switches, base radio stations, and automatic exchanges
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance and servicing on existing installations
- Training and instruction of employees as well as external third parties in the field of communication installations
- Provide on-call services approx. 5 - 6 weeks per year
Your profile
- Basic technical training in electronics or computer science with several years of professional experience; further training as a technician ES is an advantage
- Solid knowledge in telecommunication, microwave transmission systems, as well as transmission protocols and networks; experience in network environments
- Ability to work independently, structured, and precisely with great technical and manual skill
- Resilient, flexible, and service-oriented personality, accustomed to working at heights
- Very good spoken and written German skills, spoken French knowledge
- Category B driving license
