Social Worker Specialist Team Foster Families (temporary), 65%Good for life – that is our motto. As part of the Education Directorate of the Canton of Zurich, the Office for Youth and Career Counseling is responsible for the services in the field of child and youth welfare as well as career counseling. Children, adolescents, and families are at the center of our work. We dedicate ourselves to them daily with great passion and commitment.
Due to the retirement of the current position holder, we are looking for a social worker to actively support the specialist team for foster families in a 65% workload starting November 1, 2026. If you thrive in a lively environment, experience dealing with people in all their facets as enriching, and handle challenging situations well, we look forward to meeting you. The position is initially limited until the end of 2030.
In this role, you will be jointly responsible in a team of experienced social workers, based on the Child and Youth Home Act (KJG), for the assessment of foster parents and the supervision of approved foster care arrangements, especially in the Zurich Oberland region. You will independently conduct home visits and prepare assessment and supervision reports as the basis for approval for the authority team of the foster families department. In addition, you will provide occasional and needs-based counseling for foster parents, foster children, and referrers. You will engage in professional exchange with internal and external specialists, especially with the head of the specialist team for foster families.
You bring:
- University of applied sciences degree in social work
- Several years of professional experience in child and youth welfare or family care
- Experience in assessment in child protection work and dealing with challenging family situations
- Great interest and high social commitment to the concerns of children, adolescents, and their families
- High social competence and good communication skills
- Confident German language skills, both spoken and written
- An independent and structured way of working and enjoyment of administrative tasks, especially report writing
- Good user knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
