About the job
Walter Zoo in Gossau SG is a scientifically managed zoo that cares for 1,000 animals from around 100 different species. It annually inspires over 275,000 visitors with the animal world and awakens interest and understanding for their needs and the protection of their habitats. The zoo is involved in various species conservation projects and itself operates two care stations for native wild animals.
We are looking for a motivated person immediately or by arrangement for 6 months as
Your tasks
- Planning and conducting tours and workshops for school classes and groups
- Developing informational materials (e.g., signage, teaching materials)
- Assisting in the planning, organization, and execution of events
- Collaborating in the care at the hedgehog care station and advising hedgehog finders
- Supporting enclosure planning, animal enrichment, animal transports, and animal database maintenance
- Supporting background breeding for our flagship project
What you bring
- Completed studies in biology or a related field
- Strong interest in applied species conservation, sustainability, and their communication
- Friendly, courteous, and confident demeanor
- Willingness to work late, weekends, and holidays
- Flexibility, reliability, high commitment, team and communication skills
- Category B driving license
