Gavel is a premium atelier in the financial center of Zurich. We make bespoke menswear and womenswear, we do tailoring adjustments and repairs of any complexity, with a focus on fit, precision and complex alterations. We are looking for an experienced top-level seamstress who is ready to become part of our team.
We offer a very good transport connection, a bright space with large windows facing an inner park and high-end equipment. You will work under the guidance of an experienced designer. Respectful “Slow Fashion” atmosphere. We are ready to upgrade the work area to match the master’s needs. Very flexible working hours. We understand that adaptation is needed and we are always ready to support the development of skills and learning new work technologies.
Main tasks: alterations of jackets and trousers, work with lining, fit corrections, balance, sleeves, armhole, waist, shoulder area fitting, hand-sewn buttonholes, other hand work, including restoration, clean finishing.
For an established master, after the probation period, we are ready to pay above the market level (discussed at the interview).
Qualification requirements:
Experience with hand sewing and with sewing machines of different classes High-quality work with delicate fabrics and materials Straight stitches, clean seams, symmetry, neat lining Ability to work by standard and checklist Attention to detail and a drive for perfection in every garment
Additional requirements:
Ready to work fast, neat and with high quality Ready to start with an hourly contract and 30–50% workload, with steady growth and a fast move to 100% workload
Will be an advantage:
Experience in made-to-measure, repairs and restoration of clothing Knowledge of Swiss national languages and English, Ukrainian and/or Russian Experience in making men’s jackets Good communication skills and friendliness Ability to do small repairs of sewing equipment Understanding of garment design and construction
