The Pastoral Area City of Lucerne includes the Catholic parishes of Lucerne, Littau, and Reussbühl with nine parishes, the Jesuit Church and the Peters Chapel, as well as 13 city-wide specialist departments. In total, around 300 employees and over 1,500 volunteers are committed to a future-oriented, people-centered church. The pastoral area is supported by the office, which provides central services (finance, construction, personnel, communication). We are looking for a Pastoral Area Leader (80 - 100% workload) starting 1.5.2026 or by agreement. With your appreciative, spiritual, integrative, socially and culturally engaged personality, you shape the pastoral area and lead it cooperatively, participatively, and dialogically. At the same time, you maintain ecumenical and interreligious cooperation. You will be supported by leaders in the pastoral area team and the extended pastoral area team, the holder of the concept and coordination position, and an executive assistant. A consensual and partnership-based collaboration within the church's dual structure and with the office is a matter of course for you. You take on a leadership role in a parish or in specialized pastoral care. If elected by the community leaders and pastors in the pastoral area, you will also sit on the Lucerne Church Council. What are your tasks? • You lead – accompanied by an external agency – the change project "Further Development of the Pastoral Area," which addresses the content-pastoral, spatial-infrastructural, organizational, and cultural challenges and further develops the Pastoral Area City of Lucerne. • You lead and advise the site managers, the holder of the concept and coordination position, and, in consultation with and delegation to leaders in the pastoral area team, the heads of specialist departments.
