Giving time when it matters most
With your time, your listening, and your presence, you give patients and their relatives valuable moments of closeness, comfort, and humanity. For our Specialized Inpatient Palliative Care (SSPC), we are looking for committed volunteers by arrangement who would like to accompany people in a sensitive phase of life.
Volunteers (a) 5–10%
Your tasks
- Engage in conversations or simply be present
- Listen, read aloud, or play together
- Walks and accompaniment in the hospital and on the hospital grounds
- Support with small everyday activities
- Joint visits to the hospital restaurant
- Listening to music, sharing memories, or silent presence
Your profile
- Empathetic, reliable, and respectful
- Mentally stable and resilient
- Good physical condition
- Enjoy working with seriously ill people
- Able to set boundaries and reflect well
- Open to different lifestyles, cultures, and beliefs
- Good knowledge of German (additional languages are an advantage)
- Ideally not older than 75 years
- Able to provide a current criminal record extract
- Usually one shift per week of about 3 hours (max. 6 hours per week)
- Working hours: individual and mutually agreed with the department management
