The University of Basel is a university of international repute, which excels in research and teaching. Founded in 1460, it can look back on a successful history of over 550 years as the oldest university in Switzerland.
The Graduate Center (GRACE) is a unit within the Department of Educational Offerings in the Vice Rectorate for Teaching at the University of Basel. As a central interface, it is responsible for overarching matters of the doctoral program. It helps ensure that there are functioning structures in the doctoral area at the University of Basel that meet the university's mission statement as well as its quality and competitive demands. The Graduate Center coordinates the development in the doctoral area and consolidates the central services. It also maintains a central overview of the university's resources in the doctoral area and thus contributes to a fair distribution. The GRACE is also the central point of contact regarding the doctoral program and organizes the Transferable Skills courses for doctoral candidates and postdocs.
We are looking for
starting 1 November 2025 or by agreement
a scientific advisor in the doctoral program (60%).
Your tasks
- You will accompany the establishment and operation as well as the central administration (including finances) of doctoral programs and graduate schools.
- You will supervise evaluations (doctoral programs, graduate schools) as part of the quality management of the doctoral program.
- You will support, coordinate, and manage the revisions of the doctoral regulations.
- You will organize various events in the area of the Graduate Center and/or participate in them.
- You will be responsible for and coordinate the cotutelles de thèse on behalf of the University of Basel.
- You will develop new funding offers and event formats for doctoral candidates and postdocs together with the team.
- You will be responsible for further (communicative, organizational, administrative, etc.) tasks in the area of graduate education as needed.
Your profile
- Your education includes a completed university degree. A doctorate is an advantage.
- You have administrative work experience, ideally in academic management or in a university-related field.
- You bring the willingness and ability for responsible project management.
- You are a resilient, cooperative, and self-reliant personality with pronounced communication skills and high social competence.
- You convince with your structured way of working and are characterized by flexibility and commitment.
- You bring very good oral and written German and English skills.
